CAPTURING KEY MOMENTS: A COLD WINTERS DAY CREATING CORPORATE HEADSHOTS WITH HAMISH GARRITY

It started with a phone call, Hamish reached out to us after being referred to us by a friend who had a recent photoshoot with us. The greatest pleasure is being referred because it gives you a sense of really making a difference to someone so much so they tell others about us.

We discussed with Hamish before his photoshoot his requirements, he didn’t want a studio-looking background and insisted on an outdoor natural photoshoot. One issue, it’s peak winter and all the beautiful flowers and leaves have fallen and the beautiful autumn colours are replaced with brown decay. Hamish didn’t want his photos to only last the winter months and rightly so, we hope a Headshot image will last at least 2 years, so we needed a plan to create year-round warm and inviting photos.  

Luckily we have experience and knowledge of the best spots, we headed to the secret gardens and captured a beautiful set of images, unfortunately, it was so cold we couldn’t feel our fingers and poor Hamish was only wearing a suit but thankfully Hamish was in good hands and we worked fast and captured a wide range of images.

Working with Hamish was great, although he had never done anything like this before within the first few shots his shoulders dropped and he became a natural. We helped him work the poses that best showcase his features and the essence of his personality.

A cold location shoot can pose some challenges, for efficiency, we opted to hide away the computer so we had no live view on this shoot. Reviewing each photo can slow the process down but it often gives reassurance to the client that we are heading in the right direction. Although it’s not necessary to have a live view it is a luxury which we scrapped in the cold. Hamish trusted his photographer with over 10 year of experience.  

Following the photoshoot we sent Hamish all of the digital photos during the photoshoot so he could go through and select his images at his leisure. Once we received the selected images we got to work on the edits immediately and delivered his fully edited and airbrushed images within a couple of hours.

Hamish expressed his gratitude in a lovely Google Review. Each of our Google Reviews is fed back to the photographer where they gain brownie points and bragging rights in the team. Google Reviews are really important for us, not only do they boost moral in the team they also help us grow as a company. The love is spread publicly and it gives an insight to who we are and what we do from the independent perspective of the customer.

Hamish’s origins come from the Scottish Highlands he is a new graduate from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. If you haven't already guessed he is an upcoming singer and a fresh graduate ready to hit the world of music. He approached us because he needed an urgent photo for his new music campaign and we just couldn’t say no.
